Design & Support
Whether it’s the development of new vessels, transport concepts, refits or conversions, Vuyk Engineering Groningen (VEG) can provide the ideal solution. In the Design & Support department, knowledge, experience and the right tools ensure practical answers to the most diverse questions in the field of ships, shipbuilding and ship management. The design team acts as a consultant throughout the entire maritime industry, at each stage of the project.
At an early stage, in addition to a calculation model we use a 3D CAD (NUPAS) model. This means that clients and designers are better able to test and evaluate the dimensions within a ship. This model is used in presentations and 3D Artist Impressions as well.
Phased design method
Additionally, VEG’s design department stands out in the market for its unique phased approach to design, guaranteeing a clear structure in the design process. Important features of this approach are the consultation and feedback meetings with the client. The result is an extremely high quality, fully custom-made solution that meets the client’s exact requirements.
The engineers at VEG are specialists in the entire field of naval architecture including resistance, propulsion, ship motions, regulations, (damage) stability, freeboard calculation and weight calculations. In addition, all employees are proficient in multiple facets of ship design. The result is a solution that recognises and takes into account all these different aspects of design.
The Design & Support department specialises in complex stability calculations, the integration of the structural design into a concept design, and the calculation of ship motions. The department uses the same software as the marine authorities and classification societies and is therefore able to communicate faster and better with these agencies. In close cooperation with the societies, we take care of the entire inspection process. All the necessary knowledge and experience is available for a comprehensive and accurate risk analysis or feasibility study of a design.
