VG4200 MK2 general cargo vessel
The VG4200 MK2 general cargo vessel is a design developed ‘in-house’ by Vuyk Engineering Groningen (VEG).
This design follows on from the successful VG4200, but now with a modified and fixed wheelhouse and numerous other smaller modifications
The vessel has been built by VEG’s customer ATASOY GEMICILIK LOJISTIK at their facility in Istanbul. The launching of the 'Serra Atasoy' was achieved by the novel means of inflatable tubes on 02 April 2011. After the launch, she was moved to a berth at Tuzla Gemdok shipyard by tugs for completion of outfitting, trials, certification and final hand over.
Some notable features of the vessel include a large single box shaped hold and unrestricted service capability. The vessel is equipped to carry containers and can also carry dangerous cargos. The bottom of the vessel has been additionally strengthened, and she is fitted with pontoon hatch covers. The vessel is built to and classed by Bureau Veritas regulations.
VEG performed the complete initial design as well as the hull detail engineering and supplied the yard in turkey with all production information. The inclining test will also take place under VEG’s supervision.”
